Inspired by the Open Data movement

At the European Data Forum 2012 conference June 6-7, 2012, in Copenhagen, I attended the very inspiring presentation by Rufus Pollock entitled "Open Data: Where We Are and Where We're Going". Rufus is part of the Open Data movement, and founded the Open Knowledge Foundation.

I was particularly inspired by Rufus' message that the open data movement should focus on simplicity, micro-schemas and small data:

"Small is how we scale"

Where "small data" is an intended pun on the overused "big data" buzzword, implying that clustering massive amounts of data in big and complex collections does not facilitate openness, transparency or knowledge sharing.
